HMHS 50/50 Club and Haddon Fortnightly Celebrate Fourth Annual Art Show
“Through a Woman’s Eyes” Art Show to Return with Theme “Visions of Equality”

Haddonfield, N.J.: On Saturday 25 April 2020, the Haddonfield Memorial High School (HMHS) 50/50 Club, in partnership with The Haddon Fortnightly, will hold its fourth annual “Through a Woman’s Eyes” art show, themed “Visions of Equality” as a tribute to the Year of the Woman and the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage. The event will showcase the works of local female artists high school age and up from 11 am until 5 pm at The Haddon Fortnightly Clubhouse, located at 301 Kings Highway East in Haddonfield, N.J. Various mediums of artwork will be on display for attendees to view and purchase, and prizes will be awarded to artists for excellence in multiple categories. There will be food and entertainment throughout the day, as well as a basket raffle. This year, the event will also feature an opportunity for those who wish to register to vote. The event is open to the public and admission to the show, entertainment, and food is all free, although a small donation at the door would be appreciated.

Of the show’s impact and success, HMHS Junior and 50/50 Club Vice-President Alexa King said, “I’ve always loved art, and being able to see so many incredible female artists portraying their work is an incredibly empowering experience. The art displayed in the show is so poignant and meaningful, and getting to see art displayed by so many wonderful women in one place really creates a sense of solidarity and common experience that never fails to make me feel accepted and understood.”

Over the past three years, the “Through a Woman’s Eyes” art show has seen great success:
      ● Since the show began in 2017, $8,000 has been raised for Girls Learn International, the organization supported by the HMHS 50/50 Club.
      ● In 2019 alone, 99 pieces of artwork were displayed by female artists in the local area.

About the Organizations: The HMHS 50/50 Club is a high school gender equality club that doubles as a chapter of Girls Learn International (GLI). From its website: “Girls Learn International (GLI) educates and energizes students in the global movement for girls’ access to education. The GLI Program supports the empowerment of students as they discover that through their own creative initiatives, dedication, and passionate leadership, they can create real solutions that address the obstacles facing girls and women here and around the world. Student-to-student, and student-to-parent, GLI is building a movement of informed advocates for universal girls’ education and a new generation of leaders and activists for social change.” In collaboration with the Evening Membership Division of The Haddon Fortnightly, all proceeds from the “Through a Woman’s Eyes: Visions of Equality” art show benefits GLI.
